Antiques shipping requires specialized knowledge. Old materials behave differently from new materials under the stresses of shipping. Dry, crackling veneers, 200+ year old wooden furniture with cracks in it, ancient pottery, antique cast iron machines, very old paintings; these things cannot be packed the same as their modern counterparts.
Some, like old clocks, have internal components that must be removed or secured.
Our home base is in central Connecticut, in New England. Antiques and old clocks abound here. We have seen and successfully packed and shipped every kind of antique and clock you can imagine!
We work with individuals and estates as well as local auction houses to pick up, pack, and ship all manner of aged and fragile items. In the event that an antique is just too deteriorated to safely ship common carrier, we don’t take chances. We can refer our clients to the appropriate art shipper or private courier.
